Mounted heavy machine guns do not exactly allow mobility necessary to move around should you need shoot at someone from an inconvenient angle. Using a tank does not provide any class experience, and while you may be safe from small arms fire, you become a target for other tanks, rendering this advantage moot, as you will waste time fighting other tanks, rather than just shooting people. I advise that you use a light machine gun, on a bot server to farm these kills, and level the weapon at the same time.
